Police Still Seeking Public Assistance in Henday Fatality
Last month, a Good Samaritan was struck by a vehicle and died on the Anthony Henday, after stopping to help a stranded motorist change a flat tire.Edmonton police are urging witnesses of that June 13, 2012 hit-and-run fatality to come forward.
“Any additional information motorists might have that were travelling along the Henday near 62 Avenue that fateful Wednesday evening, could be invaluable to our investigation,” said Const. Martin McKenna, of the EPS Collision Investigation Squad.
Traffic investigators were called out to the Anthony Henday southbound near 62 Avenue after 11:30 p.m. that rainy evening, where a deceased male was discovered lying on the side of the road.
The Good Samaritan had pulled over on the Henday to assist another motorist, whose vehicle had broken down. The driver of a Porsche Cayenne that police believe was involved in the hit-and-run collision did turn himself in to police 24 hours later, but has been uncooperative.
Anyone who remembers seeing a black 2008 Porsche Cayenne near the scene of the hit-and-run fatality is asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
