Dragons and Adventure Await Fort Residents
Local residents began casting their vote for this year’s Sobey’s Movie Under the Stars flick on June 1. Voting closed on July 8, and more than 400 votes were cast. The winner is How to Train Your Dragon which garnered 39.4 percent of the vote and for the first time, an animated movie has won the poll.
“For this year’s Sobey’s Movie Under the Stars, we went with a medieval theme. I think it will be really fun if everyone comes as a princess, king, dragon or knight to enjoy the special outdoor viewing of How to Train Your Dragon,” remarked Diane Yanch, Culture and Historic Precinct Supervisor for the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
“This is always such a great family event and we know that kids like to dress up, but I want to see the parents get into the spirit too!”
How to Train Your Dragon is a DreamWorks animated film about a small, unfortunate young Viking who dreams about becoming a dragon slayer to save his village.
Prior to the movie that begins at dusk, there will be crafts and games in the park. The best way to enjoy this free event is with a picnic, some blankets and lawn chairs. It is an outdoor event so dress for the weather and come early to select your spot in front of the Band Shell.
If it is raining on July 20, the movie will be postponed.
