Bike Tour Raises Nearly $50,000
The Second Annual Stephie’s Bike Tour for the Stollery raised a total of $47,000, event organizers announced last week.
The event, which is named after Fort Saskatchewan’s Stephie Gagnon, has raised a total of $95,598.12 after only two years. A third tour will be held on May 26, 2013.
“Many have their own personal reasons for taking part in this event; for us, the continued care given to our daughter Stephie as she works her way toward remission from JDM (Juvenile Dermatomyositis) is reason enough,” said the Gagnon family.
“Once she reaches the goal of remission, Stephie will still remain a Stollery child until age 17 as she will require follow up appointments,” they continued.
The family also extends their gratitude to the event’s sponsors, committee members, RCMP, Municipal Enforcement, Fire Department, EMS, Volunteers and Participants.
“The time we dedicate to this event is our gift back to an amazing hospital that has helped our daughter and countless other children,” the Gagnons said.
