June 8, 2012
By

A storm system that blew in from the US state of Montana is being blamed for a tornado that touched down Tuesday evening outside of Taber, Alberta.

Environment Canada has confirmed that a tornado struck approximately 8 kilometres south of Taber at 8:42pm. Unconfirmed reports indicate possible additional twisters near Brooks, Bow Island and Vulcan.

Although no injuries were reported, therewas extensive property damage including downed power lines, uptorn trees, broken windows, and some incidents of flooding. A hay storage facility four kilometres west of Taber was also damaged, likely beyond repair.
