Frog Prince at Shell Theatre

November 8, 2010

This week, Fort Saskatchewan is again hosting Missoula Children’s Theatre, an international touring program that visits nearly 1,300 communities each year.  Fort Saskatchewan has hosted this program in the past; on this visit, Missoula Children’s Theatre will be working with a cast of over forty young local actors from Kindergarten to Grade 12, to present “The Frog Prince.”  The visit will culminate in two fully-staged, public musical performances on Saturday, November 13th at the Shell Theatre.

Missoula Children’s Theatre is certainly an extremely innovative organization, with a mission to encourage “the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.” Typically, a team of two tour actor/directors arrive at the start of a residency — bringing with them a set, costumes, props, and make up — but no cast.

Local youth actors then audition and are chosen for the production, which is then rehearsed in the course of just a few days before being presented to the public. The program aims to help develop creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem.

Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 3 PM & 5:30 PM Where: Shell Theatre Tickets: $13 Adults, $8 Senior/Students, $ 5 eyeGO; Family pack available (2 adults / 2 youth) for $40. Call 780-992-6400 for tickets, or buy through Ticketmaster.
